These amazing Airbnb’s in Taiwan will ensure that your stay is as memorable as it can get.
Taiwan is an incredibly interesting and varied country to visit, but your accommodation can make or break your trip. Sure, you could go with the typical boring hotel rooms that are comfortable and nothing beyond that. But why opt for those when there are many super cool private Airbnbs in Taiwan that are beautifully designed and wallet-friendly?
During my last trip to Taiwan, when exploring the island with my father, I did a lot of research on where to stay. In Taiwan, there are a lot of hotels and a hostels, but I wanted a cozier and more personal place where we could rest, prepare our meals and have a more local experience.
I researched numerous Airbnbs in Taiwan and found a great variety of homes. I picked one and it turned to be our favourite accommodation on the entire trip. For an entire weekend, we stayed in an apartment with a view of (and access to) a private beach on the east coast. My dad literally could not believe that such a lovely apartment would be ours to enjoy. One of my Taiwanese friends also could not believe my pictures of it and even visited us there to confirm that the place really existed. It was too good to be true.
In this post, I have compiled some of the best Airbnbs around Taiwan.
Why Stay in an Airbnb?
Local Experience
Whether you’re staying in a private apartment or a shared house, visitors can get in touch with their hosts through the Airbnb app and use the chat for fast and efficient communication. Any questions about your trip, what to do or where to go – your host can help.
Most hosts try to provide bilingual (Mandarin and English) information. You can usually figure it out from the Airbnb listing; if you don’t speak a word of Mandarin, it could be easier for you to go with hosts that also include English information.
Lots of Airbnbs in Taiwan provide city or neighborhood guides with helpful suggestions for things to do in your destination, like a favorite coffee shop or unique (or cheap) pubs and restaurants. Some even include transit information, directions to amenities like grocery stores or gas stations, and the availability of public transport. This is a great way for travelers to find the best local spots as hosts usually include what they’ve come to love about their city from years of living there!
Save some time by booking with Airbnb rather than spending years on Google to find out what’s around you.
Affordability
Travelling doesn’t have to be expensive!
Whether you are a backpacker or a business person, Airbnb gives you the opportunity to find affordable and unique places and experiences. From 12-bedroom villas to basic hostel dorms, you will be able to find the right place for your needs among the six million Airbnbs that have been listed worldwide.
If you’re on a budget, just put the price range you are willing to pay for the night into the price filter and the platform only shows you rentals that match your expectations. If you’re travelling in a group, you’ll save even more – and you can seamlessly share trip info with your travelling buddies right in the app.
Don’t forget, if you’re staying long term, reach out to your host for weekly and monthly discounts.
Safety
Airbnb wants every guest to be safe, so they have created a world-class review system where tenants are encouraged to review their stay and give feedback on the truthfulness of the property listing, without potentially affecting their own score as a guest on the platform.
Guests are given the power to tell the truth and “make or break” the place they stayed at, since the platform forbids the owner to change or remove the review. Every comment you can read on Airbnb is based on real stays and experiences.
Because so many Airbnbs are run by locals, hosts are much more inclined to do everything they can to give you a five-star experience than a hotel with thousands of rooms would be.
Airbnb also has a 24/7 emergency line with someone ready to assist you. In the worst case, Airbnb will provide a driver or make sure you find a safe place. If you choose this booking platform, you will always be in good hands!

Although the coastline of Taiwan often seems inviting, there are not so many places where swimming is allowed. The east coast in particular is not all that swimming-friendly. Yet Dulan bay, situated in the northeast of Taitung County, is one of the exceptions.
With this unique Airbnb, you can stay in a wooden cabin by the ocean, just a stone’s throw from the bay, and make use of the huge swimming pool at your doorstep.
