If there was an award for most beautiful garden, or garden featuring the most of 400 tree species found in Langkawi, this resort would win by far. Welcome to the tropical rainforest!
Impressive Berjaya Langkawi Resort is stretching along the Burau Bay offers accommodation in chalets set inside the lush rainforest. I have spent there two magical days and put together all you need to have an awesome stay. Apart from that, I have collected amazing experiences here with a dear friend of mine. Now, let’s focus on Berjaya Langkawi resort review.
Honestly speaking, there will be always something special for me about this place: Berjaya Langkawi was the first resort where I stayed on my trip to Langkawi, Malaysia, and I could not have wished a better introduction to the local wildlife. The resort is set inside the tropical rainforest. Just imagine the shock you get when me moving in such a wooden chalet just after arriving from the airport – the feeling was pretty similar to Alice in Wonderland.
And as it started, the adventure went on pretty much every day. We have seen crimson sunbirds; pied oriental hornbills, macaque and dark leafed monkeys and monitor lizards. Apart from that, there was plenty of beautiful butterflies and moths. All that we have seen in two days would make for a great ZOO. But here they are living freely in the forest.

THE LOCATION OF BERJAYA LANGKAWI RESORT
Berjaya Langkawi Resort is a 15-minute drive from Langkawi International Airport. It is well positioned near Langkawi Skybridge, one of the islands main attractions. If you are searching for the best flights to book your trip, use Kiwi.com, my favorite flight search engine.
They say not to have cut any single tree in order to build the chalets. It must have been a terrific job to be squeezing accommodation inside nature. The resort grounds are really large – spreading over 4 000 m2, which makes it one of the biggest resorts on the island.
Although the resort is pretty amazing, it is impossible to present you Berjaya Langkawi resort review without its negatives. One of them would be the size of the resort, although it can be a disadvantage as well as an advantage. I and my friend we were accommodated near the reception and this was convenient location: we have reached the beach and swimming pool in just a couple of minutes. However, if you end up staying on the other side, your travel time might increase. However, If you are a person who is rather seeking peace, you might still enjoy it.
TIP 1: Ask for accommodation towards the reception and swimming pool.
As said before, you are staying in the middle of a rainforest. That means some great wildlife, but that includes also insects. It is great to have repellent with you. If you have enough time for preparation before your trip, you can consider spraying your clothes ahead of the trip. Be prepared for the mosquitos, especially around the dusk. The accommodation has netted windows, but it is still handy to have something along when sitting on the balcony or walking around in the evening.
TIP 2: Bring along a repellent, both for the skin and for the clothes.
In order to learn more about the wildlife and explore Berjaya’s forest after the sunset, it is a good idea to join one of the evening jungle walks. We joined evening jungle walk with Dev’s Adventure Tours but you can organize it directly via the Reception. Some of the animals in the rainforest are a bit more active at night, and it is cool to have a guide to show them to you. When creating Berjaya Langkawi resort review, my mind kept returning to the moments when walking around the resort at night. What a great experience!
BERJAYA LANGKAWI RESORT REVIEW: SERVICE AND FACILITIES
The reception of Berjaya is situated inside big round majestic building. The service had good quality, although I felt rushed at the arrival: the receptionist was talking super-fast, almost as she would be trying to serve us during the shortest time possible. As a result, I had trouble to understand the info. Slowing down would really improve the service.
What I really loved about Berjaya Langkawi Resort was the well-designed swimming pool featuring beautiful waterfall and an artificial cave. The poolside features several sections, and there is also a pool for the kids.
The resort also features a private beach, but during my stay, it was rather windy so I didn’t get to stay at the beach for too long. The lounges were, however, inviting. I can imagine that with good weather, this is a great place to do sunbathing.
The breakfast buffet is great – both in terms of quality and quantity. There are various corners, where the chefs prepare fresh eggs and pancakes. I also really like the design of the main restaurant (Dayang Cafe) that showcases the Malay architecture and timber as the main material, which goes well with the surrounding nature.
Berjaya Langkawi features 5 various restaurants so that one has really something to choose from. We tried the Beach restaurant and also joined dinner buffet at the main restaurants. I liked the food but I also have to stay the price tags were set quite high.
THE ROOM AT BERJAYA LANGKAWI RESORT
We stayed in Rainforest chalet featuring double bed and TV. The furniture was a bit dated. However, all was functional. I liked small balcony that let us enjoy the view of the forest and observe the monkeys coming along every now and then.
Overall, there is all you need in the chalet. The bathroom is equipped with toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner and shower gel but also a dental kit, comb, sewing kit even a disposable razor and shaving cream.
There was Wi-Fi connection in the room, but not very fast and I had problems to upload. If there is something that can be improved, then it would indeed be the possibility to get better internet. I can imagine there would be guests interested in this service, even if this would be on extra pay.
Our chalet was located just a few minute’s walk from the reception (we were quite lucky with the location). If you stay further, you are dependent on the shuttle service. Altogether, there are 412 rooms preached into the rolling landscape.
MY PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT: BERJAYA LANGKAWI
Although I usually prefer to swim in the sea rather than a swimming pool, in this particular resort it was the opposite. I loved the design and the atmosphere of the swimming pool. There is little coconut stall at the swimming pool, selling super tasty virgin coconuts. We loved the taste so much, that we had to buy one every day. Yes, those fresh coconuts at the swimming pool are my highlight! It’s all about the perfect moments, isn’t it?
If I will be returning to Beryaja, I would love to experience the Chalets above the water. They look very private and exclusive. I could imagine a honeymoon there, with many morning swims. As you can perhaps feel from my Berjaya Langkawi resort review, this is a place for coming back!
BOOKING YOUR STAY
The starting price of the doubles is MYR 880 (US$ 200) You can check the latest prices at Booking.com. The rainforest chalets are more affordable than the Chalet build over the water of course. There are special chalets for families, so you can definitely find some great deals when coming over with kids.
